OSCE contest challenges creative community to raise awareness of link between climate change and security
VIENNA, 1 September 2015 – To help raise awareness about security risks linked to climate change, the OSCE has launched an international contest in partnership with eYeka, a global community of talented creators, to find a compelling image that conveys the important message that climate change increases the risk of conflict.
We need your creative thinking to develop a striking visual that will make people aware of the security and conflict risks linked to climate change. We are looking for 1 visual, 1 tagline and 1 short description on maximum two pages.
Prizes totalling EUR 2,000 for the top three designs will be awarded (First prize: EUR 1,000; Second prize: EUR 600; Third prize: EUR 400).
Climate change not only affects the environment. It is also a “threat multiplier,” worsening existing threats to security and environmental stress. Increased competition over natural resources, more frequent extreme weather events and natural disasters, disruption of food production – these are just some of the impacts of climate change that can contribute to conflict and social and economic decline at the local, regional and global levels.
The deadline for submitting contest entries is 22 September. Detailed contest guidelines and requirements can be found here.
Citizens of the OSCE’s 57 participating States, 11 Partner countries and citizens across the OSCE region are eligible to participate.
