Closed field operations and related field activities
An OSCE field operation closes down or a related field activity discontinues its work upon expiration of its mandate or upon adoption by the Permanent Council of a decision requesting its closure. The OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Centre is responsible for planning the establishment, restructuring and closures of field operations or related field activities.
The following is the list of closed OSCE field operations and related field activities:

- OSCE Mission to Georgia

The Permanent Council may take a decision to change the mandate of a field operation:
- In 1995, the OSCE Mission in Sarajevo was transformed into the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- In 2006, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, formerly the OSCE Mission to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, was transformed into the OSCE Mission to Serbia;
- In 2006, the OSCE Centre in Tashkent was transformed into the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan;
- In 2010, the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje was transformed into the OSCE Mission to Skopje;
- In 2014, the OSCE Office in Baku was transformed into the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku;
- In 2015, the OSCE Centre in Astana, formerly the OSCE Centre in Almaty, was transformed into the OSCE Programme Office in Astana;
- In 2017, the OSCE Centre in Bishkek was transformed into the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek; and
- In 2017, the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, formerly the OSCE Mission to Tajikistan and the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe, was transformed into the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
