In support of the OSCE Chairmanship and the respective Chairs of the OSCE Asian and OSCE Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation Groups the OSCE Secretariat is responsible for planning and organizing regular events with the Partners, including the annual Asian and Mediterranean Conferences, as well as for the co-ordination of technical assistance projects requested by the Partners.
Main Topics
Although the OSCE dialogue with its Partners for Co-operation encompasses the full range of the Organization’s activities, each group of Partners engages on specific issues of common interest.
The Mediterranean Partners are particularly focused on issues related to climate change and sustainable development, water management, youth empowerment, transnational threats, migration management, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, among other topics. In 2018, the Milan Ministerial Council Declaration on Security and Co-operation in the Mediterranean recognized that the security link between the OSCE and Mediterranean regions has become even more relevant and called for following up political dialogue with concrete cooperation on issues of common interest and concern.
The Asian Partners for Co-operation look towards the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security and to confidence- and security- building measures as possible sources of inspiration for their own region. They have also shared experiences in responding to transnational threats, managing borders, addressing transport issues, combating trafficking in human beings, building democratic institutions and administering elections.
