The war in Ukraine and its dire humanitarian consequences has put to the forefront discussions on how the machinery of international law may address the grievances and deliver justice to millions of people who suffered. What is the possible role of such international human rights protection tools as the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights and the International Criminal Court? Does the war have an impact on access to the ECHR? When the individuals can seek justice in international courts? Mykola Gnatovskyy, the judge-elect of the ECHR addressed those and other questions at 17:00 on Wednesday, 11 May 2022 an online discussion organized with the support of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine. The event was moderated by Oleksandr Vodyannikov, National Legal Advisor of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator.

The event is part of series of online dialogues “Constitutionalism in Extreme Conditions” to engage general public in discussions on current issues of the rule of law and human rights protection. It is a weekly interactive series featuring judges of Constitutional and Supreme courts, leading academics, and practitioners of constitutional and international law.
