Following an invitation from the authorities of France to observe the presidential election scheduled for 10 April 2022, and in accordance with its mandate, ODIHR has deployed an Election Assessment Mission (EAM) for this election.
The mission will assess the election for its compliance with OSCE commitments and other international obligations and standards, as well as with national legislation. Observers will, in particular, look into the legal framework for the election, the administration of election, conduct of the campaign, campaign finance rules, participation of women as well as media environment and media coverage of the election. They will also assess how prior ODIHR election-related recommendations have been implemented.
The mission will visit a limited number of polling stations on election day and systematic observation of voting, counting or tabulation of results on election day is not envisaged.
A final report on the observation, including potential recommendations, will be published approximately two months after the end of the election process.
Previous Elections
ODIHR has previously assessed four elections in the country, most recently 2017 presidential election.
