Presidential Election, 17 November and 1 December 1996, Moldova
- Following an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, ODIHR deployed an On-site Co-ordinator, six long-term observers and 81 short-term observers to observe the two rounds of the Presidential election on 17 November and 1 December.

Parliamentary and Presidential Elections, 3 and 17 November 1996, Romania
- Following notification from the Permanent Mission to the OSCE that Romania welcomed the presence of international observers, an ODIHR monitoring mission was conducted in respect of the parliamentary and presidential Elections held on 3 November and the subsequent presidential second ballot held on 17 November.

Parliamentary Elections, 20 October and 10 November 1996, Lithuania
- At the invitation of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Lithuania, ODIHR deployed an On-site Co-ordinator and approximately 40 observers from 12 OSCE participating States to observe the parliamentary elections on 20 October and 10 November.

- Upon a formal request from Armenia's Central Electoral Commission, ODIHR deployed an election observation mission to observe the presidential elections on 22 September.

General Elections, 14 September 1996, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- In accordance with Article III, 2, (e) of Annex 3 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (the Dayton agreement), and based on the decisions taken by the OSCE Ministerial Council in Budapest on December 7-8, 1995, Mr. Eduard van Thijn of the Netherlands was appointed Co-ordinator for International Monitoring (CIM) of the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almost one thousand international observers provided a broad presence throughout the country on election day.
