Following an invitation from the authorities of the Czech Republic to observe the parliamentary elections scheduled for 8 and 9 October 2021, and in accordance with its mandate, ODIHR has deployed an Election Expert Team (EET) for these elections.
The mission will assess the election for their compliance with OSCE commitments and other international obligations and standards, as well as with national legislation. Observers will, in particular, look into the administration of elections, conduct of the campaign, participation of women as well as media environment and media coverage of the elections. They will also assess how prior ODIHR election-related recommendations have been implemented.
The mission will visit a limited number of polling stations on election day and systematic observation of voting, counting or tabulation of results on election day is not envisaged.
A final report on the observation, including potential recommendations, will be published approximately two months after the end of the election process.
Previous Elections
ODIHR has previously assessed four elections in the country, most recently 2017 parliamentary elections.
