Activities of the EET
The OSCE/ODIHR EET, headed by Mr. Konrad Olszewski, consists of 7 international experts. Experts will visit a number of regional centres across the country.
The OSCE/ODIHR EET will evaluate the parliamentary elections for their compliance with OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections, as well as with domestic legislation. Experts will closely monitor candidate registration, campaign activities, the work of the election administration and relevant governmental bodies, election-related legislation and its implementation, voter registration, the media environment, participation of national minorities, and the resolution of election-related disputes.
While the team will visit a limited number of polling stations on election day, systematic observation of voting, counting or tabulation of results on election day is not envisaged.
Previous elections
The OSCE/ODIHR has observed five elections in Romania since 1996, including the most recent 2009 presidential election.
