Ecological Restoration of the Iahorlyk River, a tributary of the Dniester/Nistru River
18 November 2021
As part of OSCE’s support to the long-term and comprehensive process to strengthen transboundary co-operation and sustainable development in the Dniester/Nistru River basin between Moldova and Ukraine, a demonstrational project was implemented, contributing to the ecological restoration of the Iahorlyk River, one of Dniester’s tributaries. The video documents all stages of work and showcases the benefits of river restoration, including for biodiversity as well as in offering new recreational opportunities for local residents and tourists, or in supporting small agricultural producers.
The video was developed in the framework of the larger scale project “Enabling Transboundary Co-operation and Integrated Water Resources Management in the Dniester River Basin” implemented by the OSCE in co-operation with UNDP and UNECE between 2017 – 2021 and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
