Conference on Media Freedom in the OSCE Region - Strengthening Media Freedom for Resilient and Vibrant Democracies in the Digital Age

In today’s rapidly changing digital landscape, free and independent media are essential for vibrant democracies and secure societies. However, media freedom is facing unprecedented challenges across the OSCE region, from the safety of journalists and the rise of disinformation to the rapid growth of new technologies.

Hosted by the 2024 OSCE Chairpersonship of Malta in collaboration with the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and the 3CL Foundation, this conference will gather leading voices to address the future of media freedom, with a focus on the safety of journalists, promoting healthy online information spaces, and empowering young people as informed digital citizens. Through three dedicated sessions, the event will explore practical solutions and reinforce the essential link between media freedom, democracy, and security in the OSCE region.
