Enzo Moavero Milanesi
Enzo Moavero Milanesi is a Lawyer, specialized in EU law, industrial and business law, and antitrust law. He was a Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and at the University Luiss, Guido Carli (Rome, Italy), where he has been the Director of the School of Law since 2014.
He was a minister in three different Italian cabinets: from 2018 to 2019, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, and from 2011 to 2014, Minister for European Affairs.
From 2006 to 2011, he was at the European Court of Justice (Luxembourg) as a judge, and then President of the Chamber at the General Court of the European Union.
Previously, he worked for twenty years within the European Commission (Brussels, Belgium), where he held, inter alia, the following positions: Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission (2002-2005); Director General of the Bureau of the European Policy Advisers (BEPA); Director of 'Antitrust Services'; Head of the cabinet of two Commissioners. He was also Special Advisor to the Commissioner for the 'Internal Market' (2014) and to the First Vice-President, for the 'Better Regulation' and the Rule of Law (2015-2017).
Between 1993 and 1995, he served in Rome, as adviser to the Italian Prime Minister, for the European Community matters and for the reorganization and the privatization of State-owned companies.
He is the author of several scientific publications and books (mostly on EU law and policies, antitrust and competition law, mergers and acquisitions), and member of the editorial board of several law reviews and of the scientific council of the Italian Encyclopedia (Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana - Treccani). He received state honors, from sixteen countries.
