Angelino Alfano
Sicilian, journalist, lawyer and PhD in Business Law, Angelino Alfano has served the Public institutions since a young man.
In 1994 he became provincial councillor in the constituency of Agrigento. In 1995, at 25, he was elected to the Sicilian Regional Assembly, becoming the Assembly’s youngest member.
Elected to the Italian Parliament in 2001, in 2006 and in 2008, in May 2008 Alfano was appointed Minister of Justice in the IV Government led by Silvio Berlusconi: at 37 he was the youngest Justice Minister in the history of the Italian Republic.
In 2013 he was re-elected Member of the Italian Parliament and from 28 April 2013 Alfano was appointed Minister of the Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers in the Government led by Enrico Letta.
In November 2013 he founded a new political party “Nuovo Centrodestra”, nowadays named “Alternativa Popolare”, whose leadership Alfano has been holding since its foundation.
From February 2014 to December 2016 he was the Minister of the Interior in the Government led by Matteo Renzi.
Since 13 December 2016 Alfano has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government led by Paolo Gentiloni.
