OSCE Office donates medical equipment to Yerevan children’s hospital

YEREVAN, 31 May 2011 – On the occasion of International Children’s Day on 1 June the OSCE Office in Yerevan today donated medical equipment to Yerevan State Medical University’s Mouratsan Hospital, which specializes in treating children with haematological problems.
The donation, which also includes toys and stationary items for children, was made possible by the proceeds from the OSCE Charity Ball.
Ambassador Sergey Kapinos, Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, said: “We hope that this equipment will contribute to better treatment of patients in the hospital. It is also a good occasion, in advance of International Children’s Day, to make the children smile and forget about their health problems, even for one day.”
Armen Ashotyan, the Armenian Minister of Education and Science said: “This step shows that the OSCE attaches highest priority to human values, especially in securing human life”. He added that in support of the OSCE initiative, additional funds are being allocated to meet the urgent needs of the hospital.
The medical equipment includes a perfusor with systems, a water bath for plasma, an oximeter and a haemoglobin-meter.
Every year the OSCE organizes a ball in Vienna to raise money for charity.
