The senior international officials will reinforce the OSCE and the CoE commitment to ensuring a calm electoral campaign atmosphere, a peaceful election day and a transparent voting process.
As part of the visit the heads of the OSCE Mission and the CoE Office will hold a joint press conference together with representatives of the parties and coalitions running in the Novi Pazar local elections.
The press conference will be opened with brief remarks from Ambassador Dimitrios Kypreos and Antje Rothemund.
A Code of Conduct, developed by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Serbia, containing commitments for fair and transparent behaviour for political parties in the forthcoming local elections was signed on 12 April. It calls for political parties to jointly commit themselves to respect the law, and to conduct campaigns in “a climate of democratic tolerance in which political activity can take place in compliance with the laws, with respect for the opponents’ supporters and candidates.”
