Media freedom and development

In 2017, the Mission started to re-engage in supporting media development in the country by designing and delivering projects that address the safety of journalists. Other areas of focus include supporting media sustainability, as well as promoting media literacy, and professionalism. In co-ordination with the Office of the OSCE Representative of Freedom of the Media, the Mission observes media reforms, monitors cases of media freedom violations, provides recommendations and supports the implementation of policies to ensure that the best international standards and OSCE commitments are safeguarded.
