Tolerance and non-discrimination
The Mission’s activities include enhancing mechanisms for preventing and effectively tackling discrimination by evaluating the adherence to national legislation, international standards and actively advocating for changing and amending relevant legislation.
The Mission monitors the trends of discrimination as well as court proceedings, increasing the capacity of legal professionals and raising public awareness through country-wide campaigns. It also works on strengthening civil society’s capacity to actively participate in prevention and protection from discrimination by providing tailor-made training courses and undertaking an advisory role.
The Mission produces reports, analyses and policy briefs with recommendations to competent authorities on how to improve their work in combating discrimination. A special focus is placed on enhancing the capacities of the judiciary to apply international human rights standards and harmonize practices within Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Court of Human Rights case law.
