OSCE Mission in Kosovo launches Media Fellowship for young journalists
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo on 31 March 2017 launched the Media Fellowship, an annual initiative, aimed at building the capacities of young journalists and establishing a network of fellows from different communities.
The 2017 programme includes eight young female journalists and young journalists from non-majority communities who will be paired with established journalists, serving as mentors. Throughout the 2017 fellowship, which begins in May and concludes in November, the young fellows and their mentors will have the opportunity to address relevant media themes and exchange best practices and know-how.
In June, they will participate in a one-week seminar in Prishtinë/Priština and Belgrade, where they will have meetings with local media, media institutions, reputable media professionals and policymakers. The young participants will also have the opportunity to experience first-hand the functioning of media institutions such as the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia, Radio Television Serbia, associations of journalists in Kosovo, the Independent Media Commission, the Press Council of Kosovo and Radio Television Kosovo.
An end-of-year fellowship conference will take place in November 2017 to induct the young fellows into the OSCE Media Fellowship Alumni, to encourage networking and facilitate future collaboration. During the conference, the young fellows will develop an action plan and structure for future Media Fellowship programmes.
