OSCE Mission in Kosovo reports orderly completion of voting
PRISHTINË/PRIŠTINA, 20 May 2012 – All OSCE-run polling stations in Kosovo closed today after the orderly completion of voting, according to the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Werner Almhofer. The reported provisional turnout was 23.58 per cent.
“As with our first balloting facilitation exercise two weeks ago for the Serbian parliamentary and presidential elections, we were once again able to provide eligible voters in Kosovo with an opportunity to exercise their right to vote in a calm environment in the second round for the Serbian presidential election,” said Almhofer. “All polling stations opened on time and closed at 20:00 hrs. We had no technical problems during the day.”
The balloting materials are in the process of being packed and transported by the OSCE to Vranje and Raška for counting by the Serbian Election Commission.
“Once again I want to thank staff from the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and neighbouring OSCE field operations for their hard work and support. I am also grateful to the security providers, the police, EULEX and KFOR,” added Almhofer.
