Country visits
Country visits stand at the core of the Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator’s mandate. They serve to establish a direct and constructive dialogue with participating States on anti-trafficking policy and support their implementation of OSCE anti-trafficking commitments by raising the profile of anti-trafficking efforts in the OSCE region.
Through consultations with government authorities, parliamentarians, law-enforcement, judiciary and civil society, country visits also enable the Special Representative to identify good practices, to share knowledge and lessons learned within OSCE participating States, and to provide assistance where support is needed. After each visit, the Special Representative publishes a report, underlining the promising practices of the country in question, existing challenges and provides concrete and targeted recommendations to participating States on areas where anti-trafficking policies and practices could be enhanced. These reports are public and can be found here.
Since 2011, the Office of the Special Representative has carried out country visits to over twenty OSCE participating States and followed up on the implementation of the proposed recommendations through second visits to a number of States.
