ZAGREB 22 October 2004
ZAGREB, 22 October 2004 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Croatia, Ambassador Peter Semneby, today condemned a recent bomb attack on an office of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) in Vukovar.
The incident occurred on Wednesday in Vukovar's Borovo Naselje district, when an explosive device was thrown at the premises of the local HSP branch office.
"The political and inter-ethnic atmosphere in Vukovar has improved considerably over the last couple of years," said Ambassador Semneby.
"It is important not to allow the positive changes to be jeopardized by senseless acts of violence or rash reactions to them."
He said that he was concerned by statements made by some senior politicians recalling war-time divisions. Ambassador Semneby also commended the Vukovar-Sirmium County Police for ensuring that the suspects were promptly brought into custody.
