New Head of OSCE's Croatia Mission takes up post

ZAGREB, 28 January 2002 - The new Head of the OSCE Mission to Croatia, Ambassador Peter Semneby, is taking up his duty today.
A Swedish career diplomat, Mr. Semneby most recently served as Head of the OSCE Mission to Latvia. His diplomatic career includes postings in Moscow, Bonn and Kiev. He has also worked as a member of one of the first OSCE Missions to Georgia.
In his first week in Croatia, Mr. Semneby will pay calls on the Croatian President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He will also meet with members of the diplomatic corps based in Zagreb and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
Mr. Semneby succeeds in this position Bernard Poncet, who led the OSCE Mission from June 1999 to December 2001.
