OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine trains secondary school teachers on environmental education
Integration of environmental education into the school curriculum in Ukraine is the focus of a three-day train-the-trainers course that started in Kyiv on 5 September 2012 with support from the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU).
The training for 25 teachers and methodology advisers as well as representatives of environmental non-governmental organizations was based on the educational toolkit known as Green Pack. The toolkit was developed by Ukrainian and foreign experts as part of a PCU project in 2009-2011 in co-operation with the country's Education Ministry. The toolkit can be found at http://www.greenpack.in.ua.
As part of earlier phases of the project aimed at supporting environmental education in Ukraine, the PCU trained more than 2,000 secondary school teachers on integrating environmental education into the school curriculum.
By the end of 2012, the PCU plans to train an additional 1,000 Ukrainian secondary school teachers and post-graduate students.
The event is supported by the governments of the United States of America and Germany.
