Santiago Arias, the Technical Director, Operations and Maintenance, of Torresol Energy, describes technological solutions in the Gemasolar Concentrated Solar Power plant’s operation. Gemasolar’s projected annual production of 110 GWh is equivalent to the power generated in burning 89,000 metric tons of lignite coal, or 217,000 barrels of oil. By using solar energy for electricity production, the plant reduces annual emission of CO2 by 30,000 tons. Fuentes de Andalucía, 28 September 2011.
