KYIV 13 April 2001
KYIV, 13 April 2001 - The OSCE Project Co-ordinator and the State Committee of Ukraine for Communication and Information Technology signed today an agreement on the establishment of an Internet web site of the regional administration of the Chernihiv Oblast (region). This initiates the practical implementation of a project that aims at improving the transparency of the system of regional and local government.
The idea of the project is to encourage and support the establishment and maintenance of Internet web sites by regional and local authorities, thus inciting them to improve their public information. The web site of the administration of the Chernihiv Oblast is to be a model for other authorities all over Ukraine.
The project also includes the elaboration of recommendations on information to be provided to the public through the Internet.
