Ukrainian border guard officials visit Polish checkpoints

KYIV, 18 November 2000 - A group of Ukrainian Border Guard officials visited two checkpoints at the Polish-German border on 23-27 October 2000. The delegation received first hand experience during the joint Polish-German passport and customs control. It was given practical information about the functioning of the checkpoints in general and in particular about dealing with cases of illegal immigrants and illegal border crossing attempts.
The visit was arranged by the ODIHR and the Project Co-ordinator in co-operation with the Border Guard Service of Poland.
In the framework of the same programme a study visit of Ukrainian Border Guard officials to the training centre of the Polish Border Guard Service in Ketrzyn was organised on 14-18 November 2000.
