OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine trains judges in legal writing and time management
Training seminars for Ukraine’s newly appointed administrative court judges started in Kyiv on 10 June 2013 with the support of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU).
The training programme aims at helping participants master legal writing techniques. The training will focus on motivation and reasoning, the criteria for and structure of high-quality court decisions, and on time management.
The seminars are scheduled to take place in Kyiv from 10 to 12 June, in Lviv from 17 to 19 June, in Donetsk from 14 to 16 October and in Kharkiv from 28 to 30 October 2013. Some 120 newly appointed administrative court judges from all around Ukraine are expected to participate.
The training is organized in co-operation with the National School of Judges of Ukraine as part of a PCU project to enhance the capacity of Ukraine’s administrative court judges in legal opinion writing. Since 2011, some 300 judges have already been trained by the PCU to draft consistent and well-motivated decisions, and so better protect the rights of persons in their relations with the state.
