OSCE and Tajik authorities sign memorandum of understanding to foster economic dialogue in the Rasht valley

On 7 February 2013, the Deputy Head of OSCE Office in Tajikistan, Hans Peter Larsen and the Chairperson of the Tajik State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Davlatali Saidov signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a consultative council on improvement of investment climate in the five districts of the Rasht Valley in central Tajikistan.
The memorandum covers co-operation between the Government and the OSCE Office. It will support the private sector and attract investments into Nurabad, Tajikabad, Rasht, Jirgital and Tavildara districts.
The Consultative Council will operate as a platform for public-private dialogue to promote economic development and exchange of ideas on economic matters amongst the Government and entrepreneurs from different districts in the Rasht Valley of Tajikistan. The Consultative Council will also serve as a mechanism for local government structures and private sector representatives to develop and propose recommendations to the national governing bodies.
