OSCE Office in Tajikistan holds courses on safe handling of ammunition
DUSHANBE, 12 December 2008 - The safe handling, carrying and storage of ammunition were the focus of a course for officers and personnel from Tajik ministries that ended in Dushanbe today.
The five-day course was organized by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, the Tajik Ministries of Defence and Internal Affairs, the Tajik Mine Action Centre and the Swiss Demining Foundation, and brought together over 30 officers and personnel of all ranks. Another course was held from 10 to 21 November.
"We believe that the ammunition technician courses will make a significant contribution towards advancing security and safety in the country," said Ambassador Vladimir Pryakhin, the Head of the OSCE Office.
He added that the co-operation with the course organizers represented an excellent example of joint security collaboration.
The courses were funded by the Governments of Denmark, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Norway.
