OSCE Office in Tajikistan supports Academy of the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs Open Days
The OSCE Office in Tajikistan supported Open Days organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, on 23 September in Khujand and 26 September 2016 in Dushanbe.
The aim of the Open Days was to increase transparency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs activities by informing the public about the ongoing police reform as well as the reform of the Academy. The event also served as a recruitment campaign to attract potential cadets especially from among women and representatives of ethnic minorities.
The OSCE has been supporting the celebration of Open Days since 2015, within the framework of the Police Reform Programme and in close co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Welcoming remarks at the event were delivered by the Head of Expert-Forensic Department at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General Mukhammadzoda Mukhamad Tolib; Deputy Head of the Academy, Colonel Saidzoda Zikirullo Ali and Wolfgang Nikolaus, Counter Terrorism and Police Issues Adviser at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.
The oath taking ceremony by the cadets was attended by students and their families. On this occasion, they had an opportunity to get acquainted with the Academy curriculum, to explore the premises and visit the shooting range. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Special Forces, also known as OMON, conducted a performance whilst using special weapons and tactics. The Canine Centre of the Ministry organized a practical demonstration of K-9 service dogs’ abilities.
