OSCE trains Tajikistan law enforcement agencies on combatting terrorism
DUSHANBE, 28 February 2014 – Twenty-two officers from Tajikistan’s law enforcement agencies successfully completed the OSCE training on combatting terrorism in Dushanbe today.
The ten-day training course was organized by the OSCE Office and involved specialists from State Committee for National Security; Customs Service; Border Troops and the Ministry of Interior Affairs. Three highly experienced experts from the Turkish Combatting Terrorism Academy delivered the course.
The objective of the training was to provide the necessary knowledge and skills in combatting terrorism, effective identification and oversight of terrorist networks, pro-active and intelligence-based border protection systems, and the enhancement of interoperable national mechanisms and processes for information sharing among Tajik law enforcement agencies.
During the graduation ceremony, Ambassador Markus Mueller, Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan said: “The Office in Tajikistan helps to build capacity of Tajik border and security agencies in countering terrorism, including information exchange, and to improve co-ordination and co-operation. The training took place as part of the implementation of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy that we at the OSCE Office have supported since 2010."
The course was organized in the frame of Border Management Unit activities in 2014 as a part of training aimed at capacity development of Tajik border-related agencies.
