OSCE supports conference in Tajikistan on combating cyber crime
DUSHANBE, 3 July 2013 – A two-day conference on combating cyber crime concluded in Dushanbe today with the support of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.
The conference brought together some 50 practitioners and international experts to exchange experiences, expertise and best practices in the fight against cyber crime.
“Increased criminal activities in the cyber space of Tajikistan forces us to strengthen our investigative capacities and further develop our legal basis in this regard”, stated Minister of Internal Affairs. Lt-General Ramazon Rahimov on opening the conference.
“Twenty-first century criminals increasingly rely on the Internet and advanced technologies in conducting their criminal operations. The Internet and new digital technologies enable them to access a large pool of potential victims and carry out a diverse range of criminal acts,” said OSCE police adviser Marco Kubny.
The Ministry also gave a briefing on the ongoing establishment of a national cyber crime centre to increase capacities in fighting online crimes.
The workshop was organized in conjunction with the Transnational Threats Department of the OSCE Secretariat on the request of the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs.
