OSCE Mission to Skopje marks International Anti-corruption Day by supporting conference on fight against corruption
The OSCE Mission to Skopje provided support for an international conference on 7 December 2012 to promote anti-corruption activities and to discuss related challenges.
The event, initiated by the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, was held on the occasion of International Anti-corruption Day marked on 9 December.
During the conference, international experts presented examples of good practices in the fight against corruption that could be applied in the country and discussed challenges and opportunities for the successful implementation of preventive policies.
The OSCE Mission also presented the key findings from surveys conducted among citizens about their perception of corruption in the public administration, the education system and the area of sport, as well as in the civil society and the media. An analysis of the implementation of the 2012 Action Plan of the State Programme for Prevention of Corruption in the sector of education and sport was also presented and discussed.
“Throughout the year, the OSCE Mission to Skopje made a significant effort to strengthen political will and consensus among different stakeholders in the country with regard to the importance of the prevention of corruption and to promote good-governance principles,” said the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Natalya Drozd.
