OSCE Mission to Skopje supports efforts to prevent corruption in police services

The OSCE Mission to Skopje organized a conference on 13 and 14 June 2011 in Ohrid  to encourage implementation of accountable and transparent internal oversight mechanisms in the police service. Such mechanisms can help police services to fight corruption in a transparent and democratic manner.

Participants in the conference discussed  methods used in other countries to fight against corruption in the police. The agenda also included criminal corruption investigations and  examples of established co-operation at regional level.

Conference participants also discussed the establishment of a regional co-operation network to fight corruption in police services that would include regular exchange of information between the countries in the region.
