OSCE Mission to Skopje promotes co-operation of local and central authorities with Ombudsman
The OSCE Mission to Skopje has launched a series of four roundtable meetings on the role of the Ombudsman, to promote the use of the Ombudsman institution.
More than 30 representatives of local self-government, primary and secondary schools, local branches of various ministries and inspectorates, the court of first instance and non-governmental organizations attended the first event, held in Radovish on 11 Febuary 2011.
The Deputy Ombudsman from the Strumica regional office, Slavjanka Mihajlovik, presented the general competencies of the Ombudsman by explaining the legal provisions as well as cases from everyday practice and options for current and future co-operation with the local and central institutions in the municipality.
Participants expressed a willingness to co-operate with the Ombudsman and explained some of the problems they face in their everyday work. The representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office declared their openness for co-operation at both regional and national levels.
Further events will be held in the municipalities of Vrapciste, Vevcani and Suto Orizari.
