OSCE Mission to Skopje supports police in reforming human resource management

SKOPJE, 20 September 2010 - International and domestic police experts met in Skopje today to discuss improving human resource management as part of the police reform process.
The regional conference, organized by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is part of the Mission's work to assist the Ministry in establishing a career system based on professional criteria and transparent recruitment procedures in line with the Law on Internal Affairs.
"The OSCE continues to support the Ministry of Internal Affairs in its efforts to professionalize the police. The management of human resources is one of the most important aspects in this process," said the Head of OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Jose Luis Herrero.
Minister of Internal Affairs Gordana Jankullovska added: "Human resources management entails a coherent and strategic approach towards staff, and is an important factor for successfully conducting tasks. The successful fight against all forms of crime is not possible without good organization and the proper management of human resources."
