SKOPJE, 3 December 2004 - The second annual Macedonian Media Market, a trade fair for electronic media from across the country, opened today at the Skopje fairgrounds.
Organized by the Association of Private Electronic Media of Macedonia (APEMM), the event is supported by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje and IREX/Promedia.
It brings together fifty media-related organizations, including 38 domestic broadcasters, foreign media outlets, news agencies, marketing agencies and various providers of media related services and equipment.
"This is an excellent opportunity for media professionals to meet and develop relationships regardless of the language in which they operate or the part of the country they service," said Sally Broughton, Head of the Media Development Unit of the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
During the three-day event, participants and visitors will attend panel discussions on the professional development of the electronic media. They will discuss pricing policy, piracy and other topics.
"We want to see members approaching the market more strategically and thinking more long-term about the sustainability of the business," said Viktor Grozdanov, Executive Director of APEMM. "A big part of this is eliminating piracy and other forms of unfair competition".
