OSCE Skopje Mission co-organizes business training for young entrepreneurs in Kumanovo
SKOPJE 3 April 2003
SKOPJE, 3 April 2003 - The OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje and a non-profit organization, the Southeast Europe Enterprise Development (SEED), will organize two youth entrepreneur workshops in Kumanovo on 4 and 7 April.
These two highly interactive workshops will bring together 25 young people from various ethnic communities from Kumanovo, who will be taught how to develop creative business concepts and the basic elements of drafting a small-business plan.
"Such events are a good way to build bridges between youth from various ethnic communities in the country by bringing young people together to explore areas of common interest in a fun and light-hearted learning environment", said Shaun Barcavage, Good Governance Project Officer at the OSCE Mission. "Business has always been one sector of society that has connected people in the Balkans."
The training, conducted by Gorazd Smilevski of the Detra Fun School, is building upon the OSCE Mission's confidence-building work with youth in the country. The Kumanovo workshop comes at a time when the school system is faced with several challenges. Through the organization of such events, the OSCE Mission aims to contribute to the sustaining of the communication links between ethnic communities.
The OSCE Mission, working with secondary schools and community leaders, plans to organize additional workshops to promote and strengthen inter-ethnic dialogue among youth as well as good business practices.
The workshop series is sponsored by the OSCE and SEED, a non-profit organization, affiliated with the World Bank, which is providing training and technical assistance to develop small and medium-sized enterprises in the region.
