OSCE Mission to Skopje supports advanced training on organized crime investigation techniques
SKOPJE, 7 May 2009 - Sixteen senior managers from the Interior Ministry's Organized Crime Department are enhancing their skills and capacity to conduct investigations through a five-day advanced training course that ends tomorrow in Skopje.
The project is supported by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje in co-operation with the General Directorate of the Turkish National Police, which assigned two experts to deliver the course.
"Organized crime is a major challenge not only for police services in Europe but worldwide, and therefore security services need to co-operate with all relevant actors to counter national and international organized crime effectively," said Paulo Costa, the head of the OSCE Mission's Police Development Department.
Mitko Cavkov, the head of the Interior Ministry's Organized Crime Department, added: "The training course includes the latest European strategies and techniques, and will contribute to strengthening the professional capacities of our department to fight all types of organized crime."
