SKOPJE, 11 September 2007 - Respect for the rule of law is the aim of a public awareness campaign launched today by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
The campaign was designed to reach out to the widest possible audience through TV, print media and billboards advertising. It will also include seminars and workshops for school and university students.
"The fact that the local media are using their prime time to broadcast public service announcements is very encouraging. I would call this an important investment in the future of this country," said Ambassador Giorgio Radicati, the Head of OSCE Mission.
"These TV and radio stations could have dedicated lucrative time slots to advertisements. Instead they have chosen to use them for conveying a very important message: that respecting the rule of law, or 'playing by the rules' benefits citizens individually, and society as a whole."
The media donors contributing to the campaign include: Alsat TV, Antenna 5 Radio, Channel 5, City Radio, Club FM, Fortuna Radio, Macedonian National Public Broadcaster MRT, Macedonian Radio, Telma TV and the advertisement company Akzent Media.
