OSCE Mission to Skopje supports broadband technology development

SKOPJE, 27 February - Telecom operators, internet service providers, businessmen and internet users discussed today in Skopje how to improve the availability of broadband technology and services in a meeting supported by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
"Broadband internet communication brings advantages such as improved communication between the authorities and the citizens and improved freedom of expression," said Borce Manevski, project manager, within the OSCE Mission's Media Development Unit. "Nationwide broadband coverage will also make public-private partnerships easier and help improve communication between local and central authorities."
Dimitar Bukovalov, Head of the Information Communication Technology Department in the Transport and Communications Ministry added:
"We are developing the Information Communication Technology Strategy in order to set up the necessary infrastructure that will serve as the base for a modern information society and will make our country a part of the global digital economy."
Today's roundtable meeting, organized by the local non-governmental organization "Metamorphosis Foundation", was part of the OSCE Mission's work to support the development of an information-based society.
