SKOPJE, 8 December 2006 - A group of 150 students from over a dozen countries will participate in a regional session of the European Youth Parliament that begins in Ohrid today.
Participants at the seven-day event will discuss current topics concerning European and South-East European politics.
The project, initiated by the Macedonian Committee of the European Youth Parliament (MCEYP), is funded by the OSCE Mission and the German Foreign Ministry and supported by the British Council in Skopje.
"This activity will help increase the understanding among young people across national or community divides, and develop a trans-national network of youth leaders who will shape the future of the region," said Ambassador Drozd, Acting Head of the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
Elena Stavrevska of the MCEYP added: "The conference will help young people better understand their role in society, to be free from prejudices, and to learn more about the regional issues and European context. They will also have an opportunity to meet new friends and form opinions based on a constructive and open dialogue."
Participants will present the resolutions adopted at the conference to their respective governments.
