Flood affected areas assisted by OSCE Mission to Skopje
SKOPJE, 11 August 2016 - In response to the floods in the Skopje and Tetovo region, the OSCE Mission to Skopje is providing urgent assistance and emergency tools to the flood-affected areas.
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier authorized a 20,000 EUR donation from the Organization's Charity Fund to provide immediate aid to the most affected communities. The assistance, necessary tools and supplies, will be delivered through the OSCE Mission to Skopje.
The Mission has already donated power generators and hand lights and is organizing working teams of staff volunteers to help clear out the debris and mud.
The OSCE Mission to Skopje voluntary “Blossom Fund” has also donated 1,500 EUR.
“In this difficult moment, we stand by the people of this country and we hope that the OSCE and other international support and solidarity will contribute to a speedy return to normal living conditions in the affected communities,” said Acting Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje Steven Davis.
“The OSCE Mission to Skopje will continue to engage and provide support where possible, working closely with the local authorities and relief organizations, the communities affected and our international partners,” said Davis.
