OSCE Mission to Skopje trains police officers on new criminal procedure law
Some 300 police officers were trained between 14 August and 21 December 2014 in Skopje on effective conduct when asked to appear as witnesses in main court hearings. The training course is part of the OSCE Mission to Skopje’s advanced training programme on raising awareness about the amendments to the criminal procedure law.
The police officers were trained on their role and duties, new procedures, the opening and closing arguments, and on different ways of examination including direct, cross and redirect examination.
The training courses were held in co-operation with the country’s Internal Affairs Ministry, and delivered by high-ranking police officers, lawyers, judges, prosecutors and legal practitioners.
During the first training module that took place from 27 March to 22 June, a total of 150 custody officers were trained.
