OSCE-supported Building Bridges Fund allocates first grant

Medical students from the Nace Bugjoni high school in Kumanovo were the recipients of the first grant from the new Building Bridges Fund, and used the money to hold a public event on 7 April 2014 to raise awareness about World Health Day.
The students measured the blood pressure and blood sugar level of bystanders and distributed educational material for youths on the harmful effects of alcohol, nicotine and narcotic substances.
The outdoor event also included a concert featuring local bands playing music representing the different ethnic communities living in Kumanovo, as well as other entertaining activities. Albanian singer Adelina Tahiri, who is one of the project’s promoters, was a special guest at the event.
The project is the first to win a grant from the Building Bridges Fund, which is a joint effort by the Education and Science Ministry, the Swiss Embassy and the OSCE Mission to Skopje. The project aims at bringing students of different communities together through organizing joint activities.
