The OSCE Mission to Skopje today concluded a workshop for 15 public relations officers at the Interior Ministry that took place from 28 to 30 September 2013. The aim of the event was to help the police to more effectively provide information to the public in times of crisis.
During the three-day workshop entitled “Effective Information Crisis Management”, representatives of the Ministry’s PR Department and regional police spokespersons received step-by-step guidance and direction about how to best give interviews and statements to the media in times of crisis to ensure that the public is aware of the situation and its possible risks and consequences.
The workshop was conducted by the School of Journalism and Public Relations from Skopje and included interactive exercises, simulations and discussions.
The workshop is part of the Mission’s activities aimed at strengthening the public relations capacity of the Ministry, thereby assisting the development of the police service in line with international democratic standards.
