OSCE and UNDP expand co-operation in security and development

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a memorandum of understanding on 9 October 2013 which aims to establish a broader strategic partnership framework between both organizations to achieve common goals and objectives in the fields of development and security.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Vienna by Cihan Sultanoglu, UNDP Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, and Adam Kobieracki, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre.
The agreement promotes increased partnership between the OSCE and the UNDP in areas such as early warning, conflict prevention and reconciliation, demilitarization and arms control, confidence building and community security, good governance, anti-corruption, rule of law, judicial and legal reform, disaster risk reduction, displacement, activities in support of UNSCR 1325 on women, peace and security, minorities, the environment, natural resources management, sustainable energy, and border management.
