The OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier met Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on 20 June 2013 in Vienna to discuss current security issues in the OSCE region.
They discussed the status of protracted conflicts in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus and developments in South Eastern Europe. Zannier also briefed Bildt on the OSCE’s work in Central Asia, as well as its efforts to reduce transnational threats, including those emanating from Afghanistan.
Welcoming Sweden’s continued support for the OSCE, Zannier outlined the latest developments in the Helsinki+40 process to strengthen the effectiveness of the Organization in the run-up to the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act in 2015.
