OSCE Acting Head of Mission welcomes bilateral agreement on minorities

Belgrade, 5 November 2002 - The Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to the FRY, Mark Davison, expressed today his satisfaction regarding yesterday's signing of the bilateral agreement on the protection of national minorities, between the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Romania.
"The Agreement flows from the Federal Law on the Protection on Minority Rights and Liberties, one of the most liberal and comprehensive in Europe. The OSCE Mission to the FRY, as well as other international institutions, supported the Federal Ministry of National and Ethnic Minorities with the drafting of this law and is willing to continue cooperating closely, in order to further the full implementation of the rights of national minorities" - stated the Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to the FRY, Mark Davison.
