OSCE Mission organizes course for TV journalists from south-western Serbia
BELGRADE, 2 February 2009 - Sixteen journalists, TV cameramen and editors from south-western Serbia will improve their television news production and reporting skills at a workshop that started in Novi Pazar today.
The five-day event marked the launch of a new programme to assist broadcast media in south and south-western Serbia, support journalists' education and increase the use of new technologies in reporting. It was organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands, and supported by the UK Embassy in Belgrade.
"Professional and objective media reporting on issues of public interest is an essential element of any democratic society. We are glad to offer media professionals from Novi Pazar, Prijepolje, Raska and Tutin the necessary skills to better inform their communities," said Dragana Nikolic Solomon, the Head of the OSCE Mission's Media Department.
The course is being delivered by trainers from The Netherlands. Workshop participants will also produce a 20-minute TV programme, which will be broadcast by the TV stations employing them.
A similar workshop for journalists from southern Serbia will be organized in Bujanovac from 2 to 6 March.
