Serbian police officers learn about staff training on OSCE Mission-supported study visit to Slovenia
BELGRADE, 25 September 2008 - Eleven senior officials from the Serbian Interior Ministry learned more about the organization of basic, specialized and in-service training courses during a three-day study visit to Slovenia that ended today.
The visit was supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Serbian and Slovenian Interior Ministries.
"The OSCE Mission helps the Serbian police gain information about different models and ways of managing and delivering police education and training programmes," said Tor Tanke Holm, Head of the OSCE Mission's Law Enforcement Department.
"The ultimate goal is to advance Serbian police's capacities in this field and to establish a sustainable and efficient system of police education and training."
The Serbian police officers also learned how their Slovenian counterparts have reformed and consolidated specialized and in-service training programmes.
"We exchanged experiences and learned how our Slovenian colleagues have reformed and developed basic and specialized and in-service training. Furthermore, we learned how these programmes are managed and delivered in Slovenia," said Marko Osmajlic, Head of the Interior Ministry's Centre for Specialized Training and Professional Development.
